Argon fill

Argon fill is a gas placed between window panes to reduce heat transfer.

Windows, Doors, and Exterior Openings

Why it matters

It can improve energy performance and comfort compared to plain air between panes.

Where people get this wrong

Argon fill helps, but it does not fix a poor frame or leaky install. Gas fill can leak over long periods. Warranty terms matter.

Real-world example

You upgrade windows and the rooms feel less drafty, even before you touch the thermostat. Better glazing and gas fill can be part of that improvement.

Where this hits your build

This comes up during selections and installation. Performance depends on the product and the install. A good window installed poorly still leaks.

Most people do not just struggle with terms. They struggle with the decisions tied to them.
