Diverter valve
A diverter valve routes water between different shower outlets, such as the showerhead, handheld sprayer, or body jets.
Why it matters
Without a diverter, you cannot switch between outlets. The number of outlets determines how many diverter positions you need.
Where people get this wrong
A diverter controls which outlet gets water, not the temperature. Temperature is handled by a separate mixing valve.
Real-world example
You turn the diverter handle to switch water from the rain showerhead to the handheld wand for rinsing.
Where this hits your build
This hits during the selection phase. Choices here affect layout, daily use, and maintenance. Samples and measurements matter more than catalog photos.
