Level 5 finish
Level 5 finish adds a skim coat over the whole surface to make the wall as uniform as possible.
Why it matters
It reduces visible seams and texture differences, especially in rooms with strong natural light.
Where people get this wrong
Level 5 costs more because it is more labor. Level 5 still needs good primer and paint to look its best.
Real-world example
A living room has a big window and afternoon sun hits the wall like a flashlight. Level 5 is how you avoid seeing every seam line when the sun hits just right.
Where this hits your build
This comes up during the finish phase. Lighting, angles, and personal expectations collide here. What looks fine at noon can look rough at dusk.
Most people do not just struggle with terms. They struggle with the decisions tied to them.
