Load-bearing wall
A load-bearing wall supports weight from above and carries it down to the foundation.
Why it matters
Removing it without a plan can cause sagging and cracks.
Where people get this wrong
Not every wall is load-bearing. Some interior walls carry loads too.
Real-world example
You open a space and the floor above starts to feel bouncy. That is when a small demo job becomes a structural repair job.
Where this hits your build
This shows up during framing. Once walls are up and covered, you lose access. The pre-drywall walkthrough is your window to verify.
