Reveal
A reveal is the small, consistent gap or step used as a visual line between trim pieces or between trim and a frame.
Why it matters
Consistent reveals make trim look professional. Inconsistent reveals look sloppy.
Where people get this wrong
A reveal is intentional. It is not a mistake. Reveals must be consistent from door to door.
Real-world example
One door casing has a crisp even line, while the next door looks tight on one side and wide on the other. That uneven reveal is the kind of detail you notice every day.
Where this hits your build
This comes up during the finish phase. Lighting, angles, and personal expectations collide here. What looks fine at noon can look rough at dusk.
Most people do not just struggle with terms. They struggle with the decisions tied to them.
