Specification
A specification is the written description of what materials and quality level the builder will use.
Why it matters
Specs prevent bait-and-switch materials. Specs also protect budget because you know what you are paying for.
Where people get this wrong
A brand name alone is not a full spec. Model and series matter. A spec must cover hidden parts too, not only the pretty finishes.
Real-world example
A contract says premium windows, but does not say which line. You get the entry-level series. A clear spec stops that disappointment.
Where this hits your build
This term shows up during construction and affects decisions that are hard to reverse once the work moves forward. Understanding it now saves time, money, and frustration later.
Most people do not just struggle with terms. They struggle with the decisions tied to them.
