Static pressure
Static pressure is the resistance the HVAC system feels when it tries to move air through ducts, filters, and coils.
Why it matters
High static pressure reduces airflow, increases noise, and can shorten equipment life.
Where people get this wrong
A high-MERV filter can increase static pressure if the system is not designed for it. Loud airflow does not always mean good airflow.
Real-world example
You upgrade to a thick filter and the system gets noisier. Bedrooms get less air. That can be static pressure getting too high.
Where this hits your build
This affects daily comfort in every room. Problems often show up after move-in when certain rooms run hot, cold, or noisy.
Most people do not just struggle with terms. They struggle with the decisions tied to them.
