Drip edge
Drip edge is metal flashing at the roof edge that directs water away from the roof deck and fascia.
Why it matters
It helps keep water from curling back under shingles and rotting the edge of the roof.
Where people get this wrong
Drip edge is not decoration. It is water control. Order of layers matters. Drip edge must integrate with underlayment correctly.
Real-world example
Paint keeps peeling at the roof edge and the fascia looks tired. A missing or poorly installed drip edge is often part of that story.
Where this hits your build
This affects how your home handles water. Water damage is one of the most expensive problems to fix, and it often starts with details that seem small.
