Level 4 finish means seams and fasteners are covered and sanded, ready for paint, with a typical residential smooth finish.
Why it matters
It is the most common standard. It can look great with normal lighting and paint, but it can show flaws with strong side lighting.

Level 4 can still show seams in high light areas. Flat paint helps hide flaws, while glossy paint shows them.
