Supply register

A supply register is the vent that delivers heated or cooled air from the HVAC system into a room.

Why it matters

Placement and size affect comfort. A register in the wrong spot can blow air directly on people or fail to mix air properly.

Where people get this wrong

Closing registers does not save energy. It can increase static pressure and reduce system efficiency. Balance is better than closing vents.

Real-world example

A vent blows cold air right onto the couch. The room feels uncomfortable even though the system is working. Register placement matters.

Where this hits your build

This term shows up during construction and affects decisions that are hard to reverse once the work moves forward. Understanding it now saves time, money, and frustration later.

Most people do not just struggle with terms. They struggle with the decisions tied to them.
