WRB (Weather-Resistive Barrier)
A WRB is a layer behind siding that helps keep wind-driven rain from getting into the wall.
Why it matters
Siding leaks. The WRB is the backup that keeps the wall from soaking.
Where people get this wrong
WRB is not the same as a vapor retarder. Taping and overlaps matter a lot.
Real-world example
A strong rain hits the wall sideways. Water slips behind siding at a seam. The WRB is the layer that still sends that water back out.
Where this hits your build
This affects how your home handles water. Water damage is one of the most expensive problems to fix, and it often starts with details that seem small.
Most people do not just struggle with terms. They struggle with the decisions tied to them.
