Radon test

A radon test measures the level of radon gas, a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can enter homes from the ground.

Site, Foundation, and Drainage

Why it matters

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Testing is the only way to know if radon is present because it is invisible and odorless.

Where people get this wrong

A short-term test gives a snapshot. A long-term test is more accurate. Testing should happen in the lowest livable level of the home.

Real-world example

A radon test shows levels above the action guideline. A mitigation system is installed, which vents radon from under the slab to above the roof.

Where this hits your build

This matters during site work and foundation. Mistakes here get buried and are expensive to fix later. Pay attention before concrete is poured.
