Downspout extension
A downspout extension carries roof water farther away from the foundation.
Why it matters
Roof water dumps a lot of gallons in one spot. If you keep that water close to the foundation, you invite water problems.
Where people get this wrong
Gutters without extensions still dump water near the home. Underground drains need correct slope and cleanouts or they clog and fail.
Real-world example
You see a little trench forming where water hits the ground by the house. That trench is the house telling you it is taking too much roof water too close.
Where this hits your build
This matters during site work and foundation. Mistakes here get buried and are expensive to fix later. Pay attention before concrete is poured.
